2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee: Transmission Over Temp Warning on Dash?

Transmission and its related components needs to be checked/inspected.

First of all, make sure transmission fluid level is OK.

This warning message is displayed on control panel dash because for some reason computer does not receive transmission temp information from the sensor and that is why you can see warning and also in some cases unusual gear changing will be noticed.
I recommend you to  monitor transmission temperature with a scan tool when the problem exists and if it shows something abnormal, then wiring to the temp sensor should be inspected.

It is also a good option to scan your Powertrain Control Module for trouble codes just to see if it sets any codes for a transmission temperature sensor.
The transmission temperature sensor is a part of the transmission solenoid assembly that is located inside the transmission. It could an intermittent wiring issue caused by a bad contact somewhere within connectors.

This details will help.
Thanks.

1999 Chrysler Cirrus: 8 IGN Fuel Starter Fuse Blows?

There is a short in wiring or over draw of current causing the fuse to blow.
Few basic testing and inspection is required.

This fuse protects several circuits and components so you will need to determine which one causes it to blow.

Try is testing procedure to confirm the fault:--------

  • Try to remove the fuel pump relay and crank for some time, then check if the fuse is still OK. if it is OK, then your fuel pump may draw too much current causing it blow. If the fuse blows even with the fuel pump relay removed, then your starter motor could be the reason/
  • There are several other components powered via this fuse, so you may want to remove the following fuses from the junction block ( instrument panel fuse block) : F17, F14, F15 . Then see if it blows when you start it
  • Try to remove the starter motor relay or just disconnect the small wire from the starter. if then Fuse is OK, then your starter appears to draw too much current.
  • The starter solenoid could be the reason if takes too much current.

The fuses located in the dash fuse box. But start from removing the fuel pump relay and then starter relay.
This details will help.
Thanks.

2007 Jeep Wrangler: OBD Error Code P2704?

Check Engine light code P2704.
Its a transmission related error code.

P2704 (INADEQUATE ELEMENT VOLUME 4C) trouble code usually means there is a mechanical problem within the transmission.
You computer just monitor a clutch volume index (CVI) and when it sees it is out of range, it just sets a trouble code.
You can check and update your computer software( if it is available) but it won't fix this trouble code as it is a mechanical issue.
Below is the description and possible causes:
Theory of Operation
The volumes of the transmission fluid needed to apply the friction elements are continuously monitored and learned for adaptive controls. As the clutch friction material wears, the volume of fluid needed to apply the clutch increases. Certain transmission mechanical problems can cause near-zero learned volumes resulting in setting a DTC.
Some possible reasons
BROKEN 4C RETURN SPRING OR DISLODGED SNAP RING
BROKEN 4C ACCUMULATOR SPRING(S)
HYDRAULIC LEAK IN THE VALVE BODY
TRANSMISSION SOLENOID/TRS ASSEMBLY
POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)

This possibilities needs to be checked.
This will help.
Thanks.

2006 Chrysler 300C: Fog Light Blows?

Right side fog light bulb blows out repeatedly.Bulb is new,but still blows out in few minutes.

In most cases its short in wiring issue.

Either its due to problem with  Bulb quality ( the most common problem nowadays)
OR its, Too much voltage in the system
If you had a voltage problem, then you would have several blown bulbs as they are all connected to the same vehicle system and get the same voltage .
Test the voltage to confirm the issue.
If you have a multimeter, then you can check the system voltage by connecting you tester at the battery terminals. You should see something between 12,8v-14,8v with the engine running.
Make sure you use some known brands for bulbs like : Osram, Philips, Wagner, Silvania.
Make sure there is a good contact within the bulb connector as well.If the socket where bulb fits is dirty or wet, then turn the engine off and clean the socket with garage cloth.

In many such cases its seen that most common reason for voltage fluctuation is a faulty battery even though it may start the car.
Make also sure battery terminals are clean and tight. You will also need to check body and engine ground, thick wire connection at the back of the alternator, thick cable at the power distribution center( fuse box).

This details will help.
Thanks.

2006 Ford Freestar: Misfire on Cylinder Number 2?

Misfire issues on Cylinders.

Test and inspect the plug wires. Also Get Fuel pressure tested. It should be 55 psi.Or near to it.

Make sure there is good spark jumping from the coil to the #2 cylinder wire. If the coil checks ok, there are a couple of other things to check. First- take an Ohms reading for the injector. Unplug the electrical connector, and take a reading across the 2 blades on the injector. If the reading is not between 11-18Ohms, the injector will need to be repalced. If the injector checks ok, test for air leaks at the base of the intake around cylinder #2. If these all check ok, you will then need to run a cylinder compression test.

This details will help.
Thanks.

2005 KIA Sorento: Throttle position sensor Programming?

No its not needed.
If your new TPS is not getting detected then try readjusting it.

After replacing the TPS, it does not need to be "programmed" or "put on a computer" per say. It sometimes will need to be "adjusted". To do this, you will need a scan-tool that can read RPM's. With the scan-tool installed, loosen the mounting bolts on the TPS and slightly rotate it until the RPM's read around 800 (+/- 100 is fine).

This details will help.
Thanks.

Service engine soon Light Turned OFF after Jump Start?

The reason the light went out after the jump start, is because when the system loses battery voltage, the "clears" the trouble codes from the on-board computer. Once the computer "re-boots" itself, and re-checks all the systems, it will see the fault again, and re-set the Check Engine light. So, it's the same problem, it just took the on-board computer a little bit to re-evaluate the problem after the power loss.

Actually, When the Check Engine light comes on or Service engine soon light comes up, this is the Engine ECM way of telling you there is a problem in one of the monitored systems. Unfortunately, there are literally number of parts and sensors monitored in various systems, and to take a "guess" as to which part/sensor in which system is faulty, is virtually impossible.

However, if you are not experiencing any drivability issues such as skipping, stalling, shifting problems, etc, then more than likely, the problem is going to lie in the EVAP (emissions) system.

Very commonly in many such cases, this could be a faulty, loose or missing fuel cap or even putting fuel in while the vehicle is running.
So to test/inspect the problem

  • Check the cap for any cracks in the rubber o-ring on the underside.
  • Check the fuel filler neck for any signs of chips or debris.
  • Check under the vehicle, around the area of the fuel tank and the EVAP canister looking for any vacuum lines that have dry-rot cracks, holes or loose/missing connections.

If these all check out, then the best thing to do at this point is to have the "p-codes" read from the on-board computer. There are 4 digit P codes stored in vehicles computer.
These p-codes are what is used as a "starting point" for the diagnosis and will tell which part/sensor in which system has the fault.
There isn't a Mechanic on the planet that can tell you what is wrong with the vehicle just by "looking" at the Engine Light. Every single Mechanic's first course of action WILL be to obtain the p-codes. Once you get these p-codes you can more accurately and efficiently diagnose the problem and then make the repair. You can have these p-codes read FREE (except in California) at any local "big chain" part store (ie. AutoZone, PepBoys, Advanced, etc).

Once you receive the P-codes,you can troubleshoot the problem further with help of this P-codes.

This details will help.
Thanks.
