2002 Lexus GS300: Short after Incorrect Jumper Cables?

The jumper cables got connected incorrectly/ wrong.
Due to this the short will be noticed. In many cases you will notice,.that any of this basic components will stop operating.

The radio will not turn on, the dome lights are inop, the clock does not work, the door lock on the key is inop.
But vehicle starts stops fine. There will be no problem in driving.

Typically in this types of cases it will only pop fuses. Make sure that you check all of the fuses both inside the vehicle and under the hood. Check especially the gauge fuse and dome light fuse and ignition fuses. If you can check for voltage to these fuses also there are several radio fuses involved. It is rare to see component damages when the system is jumped backwards.

On this vehicle models The fuse panel on the drivers kick panel area and the one under the hood. Inspect fuses in both fuse panels.

This details will help.
Thanks.

2011 Lexus ES350: No start?

The Previous vehicle has Smart-start system.The Smart start system should receive 12 volts to get operated.

The best option you can try is jump starting the vehicle.
As per the year its 2011,all parts are still under warranty.
But jump start will not void the warranty.
This will help to confirm, whether is battery issue or ant\y thing else.

There should be green light on the engine start stop button. Also inspect that whether headlights are illuminating or not.

Try putting the remote right on top of the start button then push the start button while holding the brake pedal.
Try shifting to neutral and holding the remote at the button and try to start.

If this procedure is not helping at all and headlights are not coming at all.
If you cannot even get the headlights to illuminate while turning the switch on it's possible that the battery is dead. Or least below 11 V to allow the SmartStart system to operate. Unfortunately there's not a whole lot more I can do until you can at least attempt to jumpstart. All of the things that I've had you try would rule out anything in the SmartStart system as far as low battery output in the remote or possibly a malfunction in the SmartStart button itself.
Did you notice whether anything was left on while you were away from the car? If yes, then getting battery recharged should help.

BUT IF THAT'S NOT THE CASE THEN,
Unfortunately all of the shortcuts or tricks will not confirm the problem until you can get a jumpstart to see if it is simply just a low state of charge in the 12 V battery. About the only other thing I can think of offhand would be is if the security system somehow was triggered.

If you have the remote exit the vehicle and arm the security system wait about 2 to 3 min. Then use the remote to unarm the system enter the vehicle hold the brake pedal down and try the start button one more time.

This details should help.

Thanks.

2004 Toyota Celica: OBD code P0012?

Buying old Toyota with error code P0012.

Error codes occurs on every car brand and models. But if you are into buying this car, with error code P0012,then its not advisable.

This code indicates that over retard problem with the valve timing and camshaft. Usually this means something in the VVTI actuator or possible sludge build up inside the engine. This can be a very expensive repair. And more than likely you may be dealing with a timing chain being stretched also. It's not a matter of staying away from engines with the VVTI because most engines have this now since about 2001. You just need to get one that's been maintained well.In other-words,its a deal of loss.
Still to confirm,Pull the valve cover and check inside and look at the camshaft timing and for the sludge.

This details will help.

2001 Toyota Camry:Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1?

This is indication Detail for Error Code P0420.

The P0420 code means that the catalytic converter is below the threshold that the factory needs to see in order to meet the environmental requirements. This is not a sensor related issue. Do not allow anyone to talk you into buying oxygen sensors or air fuel ratio sensors. This is strictly a catalytic converter failure. If you do not require an emissions test in order to renew your license plates you can get by with ignoring the check engine light and continuing to drive. This will not harm the engine in any way. It is just a chemical breakdown in the catalytic converter to convert the gases to the required emissions exiting the tailpipe. Some refer to this as the catalytic converters inability to store oxygen. In this cases mostly  the catalytic converter will need to be replaced. Depending on your production and whether it is California emissions are not there are two converters one in the manifold and one in the front pipe.

1992 Toyota Camry: Master Switch Not Operating Power Window?

All other windows except passenger side power windows are getting operated by master switch. The master switch is on Drivers side.

In this cases the problem can be loose ,short wire or problem is power window motor on passenger side or its issue with master switch itself.
But as its provided that master switch is operating all other power windows, this confirms that master switch on driver side is ok.
So first try this.Remove power window motor from passenger side door panel. Now with that motor try operating any other door power window. If the power window works then motor is fine.If the power window is not functioning then motor is faulty.

Suppose the other power window works with passenger side power window motor then, its loose or shorted or crimped wire some where.

Before we get into a lot of heavy electrical checks and diagnosis what I need you to do is to remove the left plastic kick panel you'll see two connectors that go up into a rubber boot that goes between the door and the body. Disconnect these two electrical connectors push the rubber boot out of the body plug so that you have the harness in between the door jam then un tape the rubber boot and peel the rubber boot back you'll probably find that these wires are broken inside this rubber boot were it goes between the door and the body. Make sure you tug on the wires a little bit and you will find them cracked and broken.

1996 Toyota Prado: Differential Chatters?

Basically its a indication to change oil for Differential.

In USA  GM oil with the GM limited slip additive is used which works every time when there is limited slip chatterer. It works out to one bottle of additive to 1 quart of oil. If it still chatters after a day or two of driving and doing figure eights on left and right turns you're probably going to have to replace the clutch packs in the differential.

Also some Garage owner use Castrol LSX90 and Nulon G70 125 ml.
That is also not a bad option. But if Original GM oil supply is possible, then go for original products. But if GM product oil is not available, then go for branded compatible oil like Castrol.

2001 Toyota 4Runner: OBD Code P0500?

The Check engine light Came ON dash.Scanning the Vehicle ECM shows code P0500.
This code is a basic speed sensor code malfunction. If you have traction control and vehicle skid control systems onboard this means there are four individual wheel speed sensors which report to the ABS/traction control computer. From there the signal is sent to the combination meter which drives the speedometer needle and then the signal is then condition and sent to the engine control computer. This code basically just means that the engine control computer is not seeing a speed sensor input. If there is an individual wheel speed sensor malfunction it normally will set an individual code in the ABS/traction control computer. If those codes are not set for any of the individual wheel speed sensors then this code by default means there is a problem with the speed sensor that is built into the back of the speedometer head.

This details will help to troubleshoot and confirm the problem.

Hope all goes well.
Thanks.

All control panel warning Lights are steady ON?

While driving all warning lights came up on dash and will not turn OFF.

The VSC, track off, Check Engine, ABS, Brake warning lights are Steady ON.

In this case first try the reset procedure on your vehicle.

REMOVE THE NEGATIVE CABLE AND RESET THE COMPUTER BY TURNING THE IGNITION KEY ON AND OFF FIVE TIME.

Now see if the same lights are still steady ON, or all is well.

But if the problem is still the same then further test are to be done.
Whenever the check engine light comes on there will be a malfunction code stored in the engine control computer. By default the vehicle skid control light and track off light will come on. If the vehicle is otherwise running normally 90% of the time it ends up being some type of emissions failure either due to a loose gas cap or something in the evaporative emissions control system. In most states auto-parts stores like AutoZone and similar do free malfunction code reads. If you can get to one of these parts stores and get the engine control computer malfunction code.Once you have the code,it will tell you what parts is causing this all lights to come on dash.

So as per that you can do further testing and repairs.

This details will help.
Thanks.

1994 Toyota Corolla: Rear Motor Mount Replacing?

How to replace Rear Motor Mount.

The part is just bolted. You need to unbolt the bolts to easily remove the rear motor mount. Its a two part assembly.

The lower sub frame/engine cradle and cross member that goes from the left control arm to the right control arm has to be removed. There is also a front to rear sub frame assembly that comes out with the lower control arm/engine cradle assembly. Normally what most professional and experienced mechanics do is disconnect both ball joints and unbolt all of the supporting bolts that hold these two pieces together and lower them down as assembly.
The piece that runs from front to rear is only bolted to the main cross member that goes from the left side to the right side. This is a fairly heavy job to do at home on jack stands.

They are not welded together. They are 2 pieces and bolted only. See the helpful diagram shown  below:----

1995 Toyota LS: Misfire at idle or low RPM

The intermittent misfire problem.
The cylinder 2 misfires sometimes but not regularly.

First the basics needs to be checked inspected.
the Spark plug wires, ignition coils, distributor cap, rotors, all needs to be checked. In most cases this parts are weak or faulty causing the problem.
But if all this parts are already checked ok or replaced.THEN,
The intermittent misfire would probably rule out compression unless there was an issue with a valve sticking but this is usually associated with some ticking noise. If the problem is intermittent it may be a problem with the injector. You can try and swap number 2 with one of the other cylinders to see if the problem transfers to that cylinder. It sounds like you have ruled out the ignition things which only leaves injectors or compression.

But if all injectors are also checked OK then,in some cases the problem was crank sensor.
A crank sensor normally will not cause this without setting a code. But if there is no Code set in vehicles computer then, Have you checked for any intake leaks? If not then please check. This is about the only thing that would cause a misfire at idle or low RPM but not be noticed on harder acceleration.

This details will help.
Thanks.

2009 Toyota Camry: Hood Switch causing Alarm to go OFF?

Reset the Security Alarm System after replacing Hood Sensor switch.

There is nothing that has to be done to make the system work once the hood latch pin switch is replaced. The system should work as normal by using the remote. There is a Techinical service bulletin about problems with the switch causing the security system to go off. To test the system open a window and arm the system and wait a minute or two then reach in and try to unlock the door and see if the alarm goes off. Then use the remote to unlock and shut it off.

But if that is not helping then,Not all smart keys came with the security system. You need to inquire with the dealer to find out if you have the security options installed on your vehicle. But if you are sure that you do, then you need to have the dealer take care of this is to be covered under warranty.

1992 Toyota MR2: Retrieve Error codes Manually?

How to retrieve Error codes saved in Computer.

The codes are pulled or read by monitoring the check engine light after inserting a jumper wire in the DIAG connector box in the engine compartment. IF there is a code 12 for example with the key in the on position the check engine light will flash one time then a slight pause then two flashes. If there is more then one code the others will follow. After a 3 second pause the system will repeat itself. Post the code numbers back here. In the lid of the DIAG box the pins TE1 and E1 will be identified. These are the ones you jump with a wire or small paper clip.

Toyota Prius: Hybrid Warning Light?

It can be related to the 12v battery being low especially if it should the park on level ground warning. This usually means the 12v battery is falling and this in turn causes communication errors and codes in the HV system. Auto Zone can read the Engine computer codes nothing else but that is free and there may be some codes there that can help and try and save you some $$ They can test the 12 battery also. It may not be as good as the dealer but is free.

The problem started after Replacing Drivers side running lights:---
No it is not likely an issue with the lights. The HID lights had a corrosion issue with the level sensor but that shows a warning light on the display indicating a problem in the light system. Bulbs can not affect the HV systems.

2012 Toyota Prius: Battery Recharging?

Many New Prius car owners ask this question.Basically they gets confused.
The Problem about battery recharging.
There is no front end battery to use for recharging your battery on the newest Prius car models.

On older model 2007 , 2008 Toyota Prius models charging is very easy, which can be charged up front, instead of taking the whole back compartment apart to get at the back battery.

But that's not true, the charge point is still in the fuse box on the drivers side under the hood it is just slight different looking and a little smaller that is all.

About this car i will say, So far it has been a great car.Allot of nice improvements over the last gen prius. Just get the service records if you buy a used one.

2011 Toyota Prius 111: Inaccurate Speedometer Reading?

The speedometer reading is few kilometer faster compare to the Garmin GPS reading.

Due to this the reading shown for odometer, miles traveled, the speed all gets wrong.

In this types of cases,The first thing to do is check the tire size and make sure it is what is supposed to be on there. Next check the Odometer against actual miles traveled and see if it is registering actual miles. If it is off then there is something possibly in the speed sensors or inputs. If the odometer is is good mile per mile traveled then th issue may be in the speedometer assembly itself. If this is the case have the dealer check and test it. Some GPS units are not as accurate as the speedometer also. Traveling 60 mph and going 1 mile in one minute is the best way to physically check it. Just convert that to kilometers. As far as water it is never a good idea to travel through any flooded water in a car. It does not take much to make a car float and was away at least momentarily until it sinks. :-( Some water to a point is not going to affect the HV systems or battery on this car everything is sealed.

As the car is under warranty,so get the speed head inspected at dealer.

This details will help.
Thanks.

1994 Toyota Camry: Bypass Tail light Relay Circuit?

The Tail light relay and circuit got short.Repairing will cost approx 300 dollars with parts included.
If you dont want to spend $300.Then there is one procedure to by pass the tail light relay and circuit.

Also there will be no tail light warning on dash after Bypass.

Normally the  circuit board gets shorted out by moisture in the tail light housing.
In some cases inspecting the circuit board and re-soldering the shorted points helps. But its not the solution in all cases.

At the light failure relay, clip and tap off the Yellow wire with the green tracer. This will shut the light off in the dash.

For the tail lights to bypass the relay, clip the green wire pin 3 and clip the Light Green wire pin 9. Strip the insulation from the ends of these 2 wires and soldier and tape them together.

To bypass the stop lights clip the Green wire with the white tracer pin 7 and the Green wire with the Red tracer pin 2 and the Red wire pin 1 and soldier the 3 of these together.

Secure the wires with tape then unplug the relay connector and secure it to the harness. Make sure you check all of the bulbs and make sure the LEAD contacts are not melted. Or just replace all the bulbs.

This details will help.
Thanks.
